Frequently Asked Questions

  • Pond construction costs depend on size, depth, lining type and features such as filtration, planting and decking. A small garden pond typically starts from £3,000, while large koi ponds or ornamental ponds for estates can cost £20,000 or more. We provide a free, no-obligation quotation after an initial site visit.

  • A general garden pond should be at least 60cm deep to protect fish and plants through winter. Koi ponds typically need to be 1.2 to 1.5 metres deep or more to maintain stable water temperature and support the fish properly.

  • Most garden ponds do not require planning permission in England. However, if you live in a conservation area or the pond involves significant groundworks or a watercourse, you may need to check with your local authority. We advise all clients during the consultation stage.

  • A typical garden pond takes 1 to 2 weeks to construct. Larger or more complex ponds, particularly koi ponds with specialist filtration, may take 3 to 4 weeks. We will give you a clear timeline as part of your quotation.
